Elasticsearch Service is now generally available on Microsoft Azure

UPDATE: This article refers to our old getting started experience for Elastic on Microsoft Azure. You can now take advantage of a more streamlined way to get started with Elastic on Microsoft Azure. Check out our latest blog to learn more.

Following the fully featured public beta of the Elasticsearch Service on Microsoft Azure earlier this year, we are pleased to declare it is now generally available! Existing Elasticsearch Service customers can log in and launch deployments on Azure in their existing accounts, and new users can get started with a free 14-day trial of the Elasticsearch Service.

Deepening a successful Elastic and Microsoft collaboration

We’ve seen rapid adoption by our joint customers of the Elasticsearch Service on Azure during the public beta period. As a result, the exposure to a variety of production and non-production workloads has given Elastic and Microsoft the confidence we both require to declare a robust, reliable service as generally available.

The Elasticsearch Service on Azure is just one way we’re creating an even better experience for users of both Elastic and Microsoft technologies. Users who prefer self-managed deployments of Elastic Stack have been using the Azure Marketplace to access our ARM template for the Elastic Stack (jointly launched several years ago). We also support Microsoft technologies in other areas, such as our .NET clients, Winlogbeat for Windows OS event collection, Azure Active Directory integration to secure Elasticsearch clusters, .NET support in our Elastic APM product, and more. It’s more important than ever for our joint users that our technology portfolios work seamlessly together and provide new innovation opportunities.

"Our collaboration with Microsoft continues to build momentum," said Craig Griffin, Vice President of Business Development at Elastic. "Delivering Elastic solutions on Azure is a priority because of the strong interest we see from our users.”

Elasticsearch with Azure, and all the features you love

The Elasticsearch Service on Elastic Cloud is the official hosted Elasticsearch and Kibana service, created and supported by Elastic. We don’t just offer solutions like Elastic App Search, Elastic APM, Elastic SIEM, and Elastic Maps; we also offer Elastic expertise via our SREs, tech support, and consulting talent. Deploy with confidence on Azure knowing you always have the latest Elastic software releases and security patches that you can maintain with one-click, zero downtime upgrades.

Since our public beta launch, we’ve launched new Azure regions in Washington and Singapore with an aggressive plan for supporting many more around the globe. Our Beats have evolved in the recent release of Elastic Stack 7.5 to ingest logs and metrics directly from Azure Monitor and Azure Event Hub and display them in pre-built dashboards in Kibana. We’ve also released new Elasticsearch Service deployment templates that run on Azure, like our improved hot-warm deployment and cross-cluster search templates.

Looking ahead, we’re also very excited about the upcoming launch of Elastic App Search on the Elasticsearch Service, which would be available on all supported Azure regions immediately at launch.

Customer momentum

"With an install base of thousands of machines, we needed an Azure-based technology to stream and transform machine data to smart information that enables us to remotely monitor machines, build predictive models, and prescribe insights and actions to our service technicians and to our customers," said Dr. Haroon Abbu, Vice President, Analytics Practice & Data Services at Bell and Howell.

"Elasticsearch allowed us to replace our laborious and manual batch processes, and the Elasticsearch service on Azure allows us to run and manage it seamlessly on the cloud provider our system was built on. Now we have a managed platform for observing data from multiple systems that greatly enhances our ability to provide quality customer service, makes our DevOps and technical teams more productive, and increases system availability by enabling real-time predictive maintenance and prescriptive insights."

Promotional period for data transfer and storage

For a limited time, we're offering free data transfer and storage. Get your deployment on Azure while it lasts, because this promotion won’t be around for long! To participate, simply create Azure deployments in your existing Elastic Cloud account, or if you’re a new user, you can get started with a free 14-day trial of the Elasticsearch Service.
